A Kickstarter campaign for the Pakayak — a 14-foot kayak that can be broken down into an easily portable backpack — has just capped off an incredibly successful crowdfunding campaign, raising over $500,000 in just over a month to bring the idea to fruition.
Launched on June 16 with an initial fundraising goal of just over $427,000, the Pakayak raised $546,000 in 40 days and hopes to use that capital to ship the initial models of its packable kayak to backers by the spring of 2017 or sooner.
The goal of Pakayak’s inventors — a Connecticut-based couple with a background in kayaking and design — was to create the most portable kayak in the world without sacrificing performance. It seems as though they’ve done just that. Read more…
